I’ve been perusing the classifieds again and I was surprised by just how affordable these are now. I remember when these came out I loved everything about them. Now I see them as huge wasteful machines but a little part of me is still madly in love with these.
Right now you can get an 2003-2005 H2 with 140000-150000 miles for as little as 10K in my area. Considering these were over 80K new I feel that this is a very reasonable price.
This is something that would not get used very often maybe 3000-4000 miles a year tops. I could do some mild off roading with it as well. I live right next to a sand dune, I suppose it could be a good time. In Northern Alberta it doesn’t snow all that often but when it does it usually dumps a good amount of snow overnight. for those 5-6 days a year where we get 2 feet of snow overnight this could come in handy to get to work.
What are your thoughts on such a beast?

I feel the same way about not only the H2, but most other oversized utility vehicles. Someday I’d love to have one for occasional winter driving and trailer duty. I see that as a far better use than DD-ing one.

What the Hummer H2 Is Good For:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Annoying Prius owners.
Picking up needy college girls at Auburn university.
Offroading on that grass area in the middle of the parking lot.
Tailgating Hondas.

I say go for it. I wanted the SUT until I found out about the whole no diesel option.

I’d buy one that was written off and convert it to an EV. Troll everyone, and since it’s so big, lots of space for batteries.

There are very, very few cars that I wouldn’t drive purely because of the image associated with them.
This is one of those cars.

They're less capable off road compared to a lot of its contemporaries. I know someone who rolled one when his dad had it less than a week. It was on an easy trail that everything from jeeps and small pick ups to bro trucks (before bro trucks were a ting) passed by through with no problem at all.

Yeah I would NEVER daily something like this. I enjoy getting 30+ mpg on my work commute and I have no intention on spending 25 bucks a day for gas just to dive back and forth to work.

I did say mild off roading. I know it’s no rock crawler but I’m sure it would be no worst than a stock 4x4 half ton truck.

The SUT is my favorite but those are a little pricier. I did find a 2007 SUT with 70000 miles for $17500.

If you put it that way this seems like a great choice then.

By mild off roading I mean flat dirt roads in the woods where I wouldn’t think of taking my car.

I loved them so much I bought the HUMMER branded suitcases.

10/10 would drive an ‘08+ with the bigger engine and better interior.
Though, if I was buying a Hummer, I'd probably get an H3. There's nothing about it I don't like.

Yea, I search for them every now and then, I'll just wait.

Guy at work has one. Same colour. He’s a douchebag. Opinion may be a bit biased

I would love a newer one as well but I’m having a hard time justifying an H2 for 10K and a 08+ would easily be double that. For me it’s more to cross it off my automotive bucket list. So I can say at one point “Yeah I used to drive a Hummer” I’m ok with a higher mileage older model since I would only use it a few times a month.
H3’s are REALLY affordable. low mileage(100K or so) is like 8K. I’ve seen a higher mileage ones for under 6K.
I’ve thought of buying an H3 many times in the past but never did do it. Probably around 2009-2010 I had found a real nice Base 2006 H3 MANUAL for I believe it was $16900 and is only had 37000 miles on it. Maybe I should of bought it now that I think about it.
An H3T would be pretty sweet too. But those are still pretty expensive because they are actually pretty rare.

Just saw this I’m a touch late to the party.
I recommend looking for an H3 with V8. Rare but epic.
I remember being wowed by the H2 at the auto show, and they had the body off so it was just the frame/driveline.
My dad walked up to it and said, oh well that’s stupid, it’s the exact same truck as my Yukon. He used to drive a 2 door Yukon that was pretty badass.
